Psiworld is a post-apocalyptic world, where technology differences between domed cities can vary wildly; there are savage areas in the wild, and large stretches of wasteland. Because of the now higher background radiation, mutations have begun occurring. Those with physically obvious mutations are cast out into the wilderness in most cities; and those with less obvious mutations are hunted within the cities. Especially feared are the so-called "psychic mutants"; beings with various mental powers and no obvious signs of mutation. They are feared for their power, and because, without highly specialized and costly equipment, they cannot be uncovered. Enough rumors, myths, and down-right vicious lies have abounded to make uninformed people believe that such mutants are capable of anything, and that some may have been the cause of the world's devastation by controlling those who made decisions about the war.
The main character, Sleepwalker, is a psychic mutant, and lives in a town where a perverted and evil cult has taken over -- by using the fear of such mutants. They couch their message in religious terms, and simply intimidate most folks into following along, though there are some "true believers." Two such are Sleepwalker's parents, and this creates great conflict within her. She wants to help and do what is right, but that would mean showing herself to be different, and get her and her family in trouble. Perhaps because of her abilities, she finds she cannot leave an innocent to be hurt. Even so, her emotions and sense of things is very self-centered (as with most teenagers).
In the first episode of Psiwworld, we discover the quaint little town of Flem, controlled by a mutant hating cult, and get some experience dealing with various situations as we patrol or have special missions to protect our very secret ID! In the end, a Hobsen's choice forces Sleepwalker to go out into the larger world -- and gives her a purpose in life, and a mission for both vengeance and justice.
Mission 1: A night out.In the second episode of Psiworld, Sleepwalker will gain experience on the road, and learn valuable lessons as she discovers the clues to her enemy's whereabouts.
Mission 6: On the roadStill wandering towards her goal of finding the Syndicate, Sleepwalker encounters an old acquaintence, and discovers the harsh reality of some mutants. She must choose whether to break the cultural chains that have bound her, and move into a bigger world with much more grey. She then gets a major clue to finding her goal as she comes upon a city at war -- and they don't know why they are! Can she bring the senseless battle to an end?
Mission 12: An encounter by a lonely road
