Jewelry
Bracelet leads to Gorgon encounters
Amulet leads to more specials in general
Choker leads to ...
Tattoos
Symbol leads increased Cerebus encounters.
Swan (I believe) leads to more encounters with the "peaceful glade".
To get the Firebreathing tattoo:
- You must have the regular dragon tattoo
- Go to Qexelcrag, and buy a dragonsbreath drink from gargoyle. (it is only good for
three rounds of fighting, because of the hefty buff and it costs five turns to drink one,
so you may want to wait until you are already out of them (but save a travel))
- If you can make it to Glorfindal without any waylays (or just one) then talk to Petra
like normal, and the dragonsfire will be available for the normal price
- If not, you'll have to try again. I have found that creatures seem to seek me when I
am under the influence of the dragon's breath, and at least once I have failed to get to
Glorfindal.
- One of the tattoos also gives increased encounters with Lonestrider and can get you
fast money if you survive.
Ramius and the "Afterlife"
Both the Nightmare and Valkyrie are affected by how much favor you have with Ramius.
Valkyrie has a higher cap.

Pet guide
BEWARE! Sometimes the "blessing" is a CURSE! (about one in five, in my experience).
A guide to quicker level ups and DKs.
- One is to use all your free travels, and give yourself mounts/familiars that give you
extras. The Nightmare (which I don't like personally) gives you like 5 extra travels.
Being an Elf gives you an extra travel or three. As you go up in DKs, The gryphon (and
Mini), and clockwork scorpion all give you extra travels.
- Some mounts also give you extra forest fights. The Shadovar gives only one or two;
but the minigryph, the Hybrid Ettile, and the clockwork Scorpion all give like 5 extra
fights.
- Picking a mount to offest your deficiencies (high attack if you are Felyne, for
instance) will help you gain more Flawless fights, and thus more bonus fights.
- The more buffs, the better! Use Heidi as often as possible, the kittens when they
show up, and even get married to Velvet! It won't last long, but you gain a MAJOR defensive
bonus. Of course, you have to build up your charm first, which means hitting the Kissing
booths, flirting with her, etc.
- Use Heidi's other function. Give up your PvPs, and you will gain 12 or more forest
fights, depending on your Spirits and the number DKs you have. I am almost certain one of
the tattoos or jewelry increase them; but I don't know which.
- Battles with Cerberus and the Gorgon don’t go against your Forest Fight counts, since
they are specials. They also give good amounts of experience points. Take ‘em when you get
‘em!
- Dag Durnick in the Boar's head Inn.
- At level 5 you can take on the Minotaur.
- At levels 5-7, the bandits (if you succeed against the Minotaur). Yes, they cost 3
fights every time you have to go out, but you pull in major XP -- especially if you survive
and defeat them all. Watch out for arrows shooting you! They can do over 50HP in a single
swipe! I have been killed more often by them than the bandits!
- The Manticore is at lvl 10-12; but beware, that sucker is NASTY! I may take the job at
lvl 10, and then wait until I am lvl 12 to actually do it.
- Personally, I don’t thrill seek until I have used up all my bonus FFs for flawless
fights. The bonus fights more than make up for the missed out 10% bonus XP from the thrill
seeking.
General Informational helps for progressing quicker
- Need gems for the mounts? Be Felyne a few lives. They rake in the gems.
- Want a bonus FF or two? Be a troll.
- Want raw Forest Fights? Add a few with DKs.
- I don't know how others do it; but I try to keep my Attack/Defense bonuses about the
same, and my HP/FF bonuses about half those. So right now, I am at +30/+27 Attack/Def, and
+12 levels HP (actually +60 HP at 1st level) and +12 FF
- Any time you get a chance at a pinata, take it and swing. You may lose hit points or a
FF; but more often than not you will gain an FF or two, and heal yourself. YOU WILL NEVER
DIE FROM IT!
- The druids I do as well, though I have negatives from them more often than positives
-- usually losing some max HP temporarily.
- ALWAYS give the gems to the fairies/Foilwench, etc.! It is always a positive --
either more gems, or gain in levels of your skill. The more levels, the more use points!
- The Kitchen on Romar -- buy the full dinner +tip, and 70%+ of the time it will be good
stuff -- extra HP, healed HP, extra FFs, etc.
- I do not do the castle, stonehenge, or stream unless I have no money and less than
5 FF left. This is because they can KILL you, and you lose your money. and FFs. Resurrecting
will get you back 6-7, but you lose the ones you traded in PvPs for.
- If you don't want to try for a blessed weapon, get less than 5 FFs less, and kill
yourself. Once you have a few DKs there is even a "search suicidally" choice in the
forest :-) Do all your torments in the underworld, get at least 100 favor, and resurrect.
BINGO! You have 7 more FFs, and a fresh mount.
- Speaking of mounts:
- IMHO, it is not worth feeding your mount in Romar or Degolburg unless you have at
least 9-10 FF left. If you do, the flawless fights will usually make up the money spent,
and get you more XP ;-) So watch your mount, and feed him.
- DON'T try to fight without the mounts buffs until you have to.
- Don't use the Wild Wyvern; it has a negative def bonus that makes flawless fights
almost impossible.
- The Roc is pretty good early on, though of short duration (30 Turns).
- Clockwork Cassowary’s attack buff changes based on your HP (max), and number of attacks
based on the number of FF you have left.
- Clockwork Bear bonuses and attacks change based on the number of HP you have at any
given time. It has a great defensive bonus.
- Clockwork Terrapin bonuses are based on the level of your defense. As it goes up, so
do the bonuses and attacks.
- Clockwork Scorpion bonuses and attacks are based on the level of your offense. As it
goes up, so do the bonuses and attacks.
